Seasonal Green Fee Guide

When to play for the best value in Wicklow

Peak Season (Jun–Aug)

Longest days, warmest weather, highest demand. Championship courses (Druids Glen, Powerscourt) at their most expensive. Book at least 2–4 weeks ahead for popular slots.

Budget tip: Mid-week tee times are typically 15–20% cheaper than weekends.

Shoulder Season (Apr–May · Sep–Oct)

Our recommended time to visit. Courses in excellent condition, green fees 10–20% lower than peak, and the Wicklow scenery is stunning. September and October are particularly good.

Best value months: May and September.

Winter (Nov–Mar)

Green fees drop 20–40% at most courses. Courses are quieter. Some temporary greens in operation. Check course conditions before travelling in December–January. Worth it for budget visitors.

Best value: Baltinglass, Coollattin, Wicklow GC — outstanding value in winter.

Green Fees — FAQ

What is the cheapest golf course in County Wicklow?

Blessington Lakes Golf Club and Kilcoole Golf Club are the most affordable at approximately €20 per round. Baltinglass Golf Club (€25) is the best-value full 18-hole course. All three are pay-and-play with no handicap requirement.

Which Wicklow courses offer the best value for money?

Coollattin Golf Club (€30) is a standout — a Peter McEvoy-designed 18-hole parkland course at a price that would seem low for a municipal course in Dublin. Blainroe Golf Club (€35) and Delgany Golf Club (€35) also offer exceptional value. Wicklow Golf Club at €30 with its clifftop setting and Irish Sea views is also worth flagging.

Are weekend green fees much higher than weekdays?

At most Wicklow courses, weekday and weekend rates are similar or modestly different. The bigger courses (Druids Glen, Powerscourt) have a 15–25% premium for weekend tee times and peak season. Smaller clubs often have a flat rate for all visitor rounds. Old Conna Golf Club charges a flat €50 regardless of day.

Do green fees include a buggy?

No — green fees at Wicklow courses are walking green fees. Buggy hire is available at most courses for an additional €30–€50. Trolley hire (pull or electric) is also available at most clubs for €5–€15.

Should I book tee times in advance?

For championship courses (Druids Glen, Powerscourt) especially at weekends or in summer, booking 1–4 weeks in advance is advisable. Smaller clubs often accept same-day bookings. The GolfNow platform lists last-minute availability for many Wicklow courses.
