Powerscourt Golf Club – West Course. Enniskerry.
David McLay Kidd's bold, sweeping parkland layout within Powerscourt Estate — longer and more challenging than the East Course, with dramatic elevation changes and the Sugar Loaf Mountain as a constant companion.
Powerscourt Golf Club – West Course
Powerscourt Golf Club's West Course is the David McLay Kidd-designed companion to Peter McEvoy's celebrated East Course, sharing the same magnificent Powerscourt Estate setting in Enniskerry. Kidd — the designer responsible for Bandon Dunes in Oregon — brought his characteristically bold and dramatic approach to the West Course, creating a layout that is longer, more exposed and more overtly challenging than its neighbour.
The par-72 West Course stretches to 6,993 yards from the championship tees, making it one of the longest courses in County Wicklow. Kidd used the estate's natural contours to create dramatic elevation changes, wide fairways that funnel into precise targets, and an open, windswept feel that contrasts with the more sheltered, wooded character of the East Course. The Sugar Loaf Mountain is a constant backdrop.
The same visitor requirements apply as the East Course — advance booking is essential and a handicap certificate is required. Playing both the East and West courses in the same visit is one of the finest 36-hole days available in Wicklow. The Powerscourt clubhouse, hotel and estate facilities are shared between both courses.
