Brittas Bay Club — Full Story →Key Facts
There are 20 golf courses in County Wicklow — ranging from the four-time Irish Open host Druids Glen and the Powerscourt Golf Club twin courses to classic links at Arklow, clifftop courses at Blainroe and Wicklow Golf Club, and affordable pay and play at Blessington Lakes and Kilcoole. A 21st course — the Brittas Bay Club (redesigned from The European Club) — is due to open in Spring 2027.
The majority of Wicklow courses welcome visitors without a handicap certificate. Courses with no handicap requirement include: Arklow Golf Links, Blainroe, Wicklow Golf Club, Greystones, Old Conna, Bray Golf Club, Delgany, Macreddin, Coollattin, Baltinglass, Blessington Lakes and Kilcoole. Woodenbridge accepts visitors with a handicap of up to 28 (men) or 36 (ladies). The courses that require a handicap certificate are Druids Glen, Powerscourt (both courses) and Tulfarris.
The most affordable golf in County Wicklow starts at €20 per round at Blessington Lakes Golf Club (pay and play, 9 holes) and Kilcoole Golf Club. Baltinglass Golf Club offers 18 holes from €25. Wicklow Golf Club and Coollattin Golf Club are from €30, while Blainroe and Delgany are from €35. All of these welcome visitors without a handicap certificate.
Wicklow golf courses range from 20km to 80km from Dublin. The nearest are Bray Golf Club, Old Conna, Woodbrook and Greystones — all 20–30km from the city centre via the N11/M11, around 25–30 minutes. Druids Glen and Powerscourt are about 40km, 35–40 minutes. The south Wicklow courses (Arklow Golf Links, Coollattin, Woodenbridge) are 70–80km, around 70 minutes. Several north Wicklow courses are also accessible by DART train.
Druids Glen Golf Resort is widely considered the best course in Wicklow — host of four Irish Open championships, a Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock design from 1995 across 200 acres of rolling parkland. Powerscourt Golf Club East is second — a spectacular setting with mountain views. For pure value, Blainroe Golf Club and Wicklow Golf Club offer outstanding clifftop golf at a fraction of the resort prices. Woodenbridge is the pick for sheltered river valley parkland.
Yes — several Wicklow courses offer on-site or adjacent accommodation. Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort is the most complete package (5-star hotel, two courses on-site). Tulfarris Hotel has lakeside golf and stay packages. Woodenbridge Hotel is directly adjacent to Woodenbridge Golf Club. BrookLodge at Macreddin is a luxurious country house option with the Paul McGinley-designed course. Rathsallagh Country House adjoins Rathsallagh Golf Club. See our Golf + Stay page for full details and booking.
The prime season runs May to October. May, June and September are outstanding — long daylight, courses in excellent condition, lower green fees than peak July/August. October offers exceptional value as winter rates begin at most clubs. Avoid December and January unless you're flexible with conditions and comfortable with short daylight hours. See our Wicklow weather guide for monthly breakdown.
Most Wicklow courses offer online booking directly through their websites. Druids Glen and Powerscourt can also be booked through GolfNow. Some smaller clubs (Blessington Lakes, Kilcoole) are best contacted by phone. The "Book" button on every course above takes you directly to the most reliable booking channel for that course.
See our Golf + Stay guide for packages at Druids Glen, Tulfarris, Woodenbridge Hotel, BrookLodge and Rathsallagh — from budget nights to five-star resort weekends.
