Find out more →Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort occupies one of the most unusual and spectacular golf settings in Ireland — a course laid out across three peninsulas jutting into the Blessington Lakes reservoir in west Wicklow. Patrick J. Merrigan's design makes the most of the extraordinary terrain: at 6,730 yards and par 72, the layout threads along the lake shores and across the peninsulas with water visible from almost every hole.
The Blessington Lakes reservoir was created in the 1940s when the River Liffey was dammed to provide Dublin's water supply, submerging the original valley floor. The result is a vast inland lake surrounded by the Wicklow uplands — and Tulfarris sits right at its edge, the course constantly framed by water and mountain. When the light is right — particularly on autumn mornings — it is among the most visually striking rounds available anywhere in Leinster.
The course requires a handicap certificate (or index), which reflects its genuine championship standard. At just 35km from Dublin via the N81, it is also one of the closer quality resort experiences to the capital, making it ideal for a day trip or an overnight golf-and-stay package using the on-site hotel.
